SELECTION AND USE OF SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS AND ACTIVITIES

All my teachers have used any extra material in the class with the purpose of practicing or reinforcing a topic with more information. I thought that these were the only reasons to include supplementary materials but there are more considerations like to replace unsuitable material in the coursebook, to cover students´ needs or interests and to add a variety to the teaching. 


Besides the fact that all the content that is described in a coursebook syllabus needs to be covered, a teacher has the power to add or delete materials depending on students learning convenience. Therefore, I would go for authentic material application in order to satisfy my students´ needs. For me having a real perception of the world through newspapers, magazines, real video-interviews, means to build up not only my students´ linguistic knowledge but their critical thinking of real life. Additionally, I would use technology a lot since teenagers look for this mean of communication, for example I would use websites like google drive in order to have a closer contact with each of my students.  

In short, now I know the right use and the reasons for adding a supplementary material in my classes.
